Ahmedabad, 11 December (HS): The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has seized a Pakistani fishing vessel and apprehended 11 crew members for illegally operating inside India’s territorial waters, officials said on Thursday. The detainees have been handed over to the Jakhau Marine Police in Gujarat for further investigation.

According to Gujarat Defence PRO Wing Commander Abhishek Kumar Tiwari, the Coast Guard intercepted the boat on Wednesday during routine surveillance and detained all 11 crew members inside India’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). “This interdiction underscores the Coast Guard's sustained maritime operations and India's commitment to securing its frontiers while maintaining robust enforcement of international laws within the Maritime Zones of India (MZI),” Tiwari said in a post on X.

The Indian Coast Guard also confirmed the action, stating that the interception demonstrates India's firm resolve to protect its maritime boundaries. “Relentless surveillance and proactive operations remain the bedrock of our maritime security strategy,” the ICG said.
