Jammu, 3 October (H.S.): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Jammu & Kashmir, led by its general secretary (organization), Ashok Koul continued its drive to promote indigenous crafts and artisans under the Vocal for Local campaign inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Ashok Koul, accompanied by BJP District Jammu South president, Naresh Singh Jasrotia, and other senior leaders participated in two programmes to honour pottery makers and local artisans, highlighting their contribution in strengthening the regional economy.
First programme was organized at Ban Sultan and the second at Suman Gupta’s studio in Channi Himmat. Honouring their skill, and craftsmanship, pottery makers and artisans, they were honoured by the BJP leadership on the occasions.
Speaking on the occasion, Ashok Koul said that it is not just a cultural exercise but an economic mission directly tied to the vision of Prime Minister Modi. He said that by supporting our local artisans and their products, we are strengthening the foundation of Atma Nirbharta (self-reliance) in every field. He termed this as a crucial step towards endorsing India’s rightful claim of becoming a developed nation soon.
Koul emphasized that local economies form the lifeline of national growth. Pottery makers, handicraft workers, and other traditional entrepreneurs are the custodians of India’s heritage and at the same time vital contributors to its economy. He stressed that when we empower them with recognition, resources, and markets, we not only secure their livelihood but also contribute to a robust national economy that can withstand global challenges.
Naresh Singh Jasrotia said that the district unit of the Party will continue to engage with grassroots-level entrepreneurs to ensure their products gain wider reach and visibility. He said that their mission is to make local talent a source of pride and prosperity for the entire region.
