
Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), 03 October (HS): In a major breakthrough, Itanagar Police arrested a habitual thief involved in stealing mobile tower equipment and recovered stolen property worth nearly ₹3.5 lakh.

Superintendent of Police Kengo Dirchi said on Friday that the accused, 29-year-old Taram Bhai, a resident of Itanagar’s G-Sector, was caught red-handed while attempting to steal DG batteries from a tower site in Panchali.
Acting on repeated complaints from mobile tower operators, a special police team was formed under DSP Dirchi, with Inspector Takkhe Taso of Niti Vihar Police Station leading the operation. The team nabbed the accused during the theft attempt, ensuring swift and coordinated action.
Following interrogation, police seized five DG batteries, earthing cables, copper wires and other household equipment from the accused, collectively valued at approximately ₹3.5 lakh.
A case has been registered under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). DSP Dirchi added that the investigation is now focused on tracing other stolen assets and identifying possible accomplices involved in similar thefts.
This arrest marks a crucial step in addressing rising concerns of mobile tower operators and strengthening the security of vital public infrastructure in Itanagar.--------
