Golaghat (Assam), 03 October (HS): Fresh tension gripped the Assam-Nagaland border on Friday after suspected miscreants from Nagaland allegedly set several houses on fire in Tengatal village under Sarupathar Sector B, Uriamghat.

According to senior police officials, the incident took place in the early hours when villagers were asleep. While no casualties have been reported, authorities confirmed extensive property damage.

Following the attack, the district administration, police, forest officials and CRPF personnel rushed to the spot and managed to bring the situation under control. However, officials said the atmosphere remains tense in the area.

Due to the remoteness of the affected villages, a detailed assessment of the damage is still underway. Security forces have intensified vigil to prevent any further flare-ups.

The Assam-Nagaland border has witnessed several such incidents in the past, despite the long-standing deployment of CRPF forces to maintain peace.--------
