Jalpaiguri, 3 October (H.S.): At least three people were killed and seven others seriously injured a road accident that occurred near number 2 bridge on Asian Highway 4 on in Dhupguri on Dussehra evening. As per information, a speeding car suddenly plowed through the crowd and rammed into a roadside shop during idol viewing and immersion.

According to eyewitnesses, there were huge crowds at the puja pandals. People were standing on the roadside, admiring the idol. Meanwhile, a luxury car came at high speed and suddenly lost control. The car rammed directly into the crowd and crashed into a roadside shop.

After the incident, chaos erupted at the scene. People began running around. Locals immediately picked up the injured and took them to the nearest hospital. Police officers and administrative teams also arrived at the scene and began relief and rescue operations.

The police stated that preliminary estimates indicate the driver lost control of the car. The driver fled the scene after the incident. The police have launched a search operation to locate him. The police are investigating all aspects of the accident.

The bodies of the three deceased have been sent for post-mortem examination. The seven injured are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
