Bhubaneswar, 3 October (H.S.) Opposition leader Naveen Patnaik expressed deep concern over the recent floods and multiple landslides in Gajapati district, calling the situation “highly alarming.”
In a social media post, Patnaik highlighted the impact of continuous heavy rainfall caused by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal, which has severely affected the livelihoods of local residents. He noted that some areas have witnessed casualties while in others, people are reported missing. Many villages remain cut off from essential services due to submerged roads and floodwaters.
“My thoughts and sympathies are with the people affected by the floods. I urge officials present in the impacted areas to ensure rapid rescue and relief operations,” Patnaik wrote. He also prayed for the safety of all residents in the affected regions and called for immediate measures to protect lives and property.
