Dhubri (Assam), 03 October (HS): Panic and suspense gripped the residents of Gauripur on Friday morning after a woman’s body was discovered floating in the Gadadhar River near the Baguntali Bridge. The shocking sight drew a crowd of onlookers, with whispers spreading rapidly across the town.
According to locals, the body was first spotted near the Durga idol immersion site, drifting under the bridge. Alarmed residents immediately informed the police, who rushed to the scene. Authorities recovered the body and sent it to the hospital for a post-mortem examination.
At present, the woman remains unidentified and unsettling questions linger over the cause of her death. Police have not ruled out either suicide or homicide, stating that the truth will only be revealed after the autopsy report is received.
Meanwhile, the incident has left townspeople shaken, as speculation runs high. Gauripur police have assured the public that they are probing the matter with utmost seriousness. An officer involved in the investigation said, “We are committed to uncovering the real cause of death. The post-mortem report will be crucial in determining whether foul play was involved.”-------
