Delhi CM Backs Sports Culture, Launches New Policy with Record Rewards


New Delhi, October 3(HS): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated a newly developed football ground at Sudeva Football Club in Civil Lines on Friday. The event was attended by legislator Surya Prakash Khatri and club officials.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister wrote, “Our government is committed to strengthening the sports culture in Delhi. We want every player to get opportunities, sharpen their talent, and make Delhi proud at the national as well as international stage.”

Highlighting the government’s initiatives, she said a new sports policy has been rolled out, carrying the highest cash rewards in the country. Under this policy, an Olympic gold medalist from Delhi will receive ₹7 crore, silver medalists ₹5 crore, and bronze medalists ₹3 crore.

Along with monetary support, athletes will also be eligible for appointments in Grade A, B, and C government positions, ensuring career security.The government also announced the establishment of sports training centers across the capital so that no sportsperson is left behind due to lack of resources.
