Guwahati, 03 October (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday paid glowing tributes to the legendary Goalparia folk singer Pratima Barua Pandey on her birth anniversary.

The Chief Minister recalled her as the Empress of Goalparia Folk Songs, whose magical voice carried the fragrance of Assamese soil. He said through folk music, she beautifully expressed the beliefs and emotions of the common people, leaving behind a timeless cultural legacy.

Fondly remembered as the Daughter of the Elephant (Hastir Kanya), Pratima Barua Pandey continues to inspire generations with her soulful contribution to Assamese folk traditions, the CM added.-----------
