Odisha Police SI Exam Irregularities: Aspirants Protest in Bhubaneswar, Seek CBI Probe

Bhubaneswar, 3 October (H.S.) Alleging large-scale irregularities in the Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment examination, a group of job aspirants staged a protest outside the Harekrushna Mahatab Library in Bhubaneswar on Friday.

The candidates accused the Odisha Police Recruitment Board (OPRB) of negligence and claimed that corruption within the system had facilitated widespread malpractice. They further alleged collusion between officials and middlemen, demanding strict accountability and transparency at the highest level.

The protestors also alleged the involvement of certain private coaching centres in the racket and urged the Crime Branch to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and punish all those responsible.

“OPRB cancelled the examination because they failed to finalise deals with middlemen. Many influential people are involved in this scam. The three arrested middlemen are just the tip of the iceberg. The 112 arrested aspirants must have paid more than Rs 25 lakh each. Out of 900 posts, most appear to have been sold. We demand that the main culprits be exposed and a CBI probe be ordered,” said one of the agitating aspirants.

The protest highlights growing anger among candidates who allege that merit has been compromised in the recruitment process, and they insist that only an independent probe can restore fairness and credibility.
