A superb goal from Brian Mbeumo helped Manchester United secure a 1-1 draw against European champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in a pre-season friendly on Saturday, as the English side extended its unbeaten run in pre-season at the Ullevi Stadium.

PSG made an aggressive start to the contest, with young Senegalese forward Ibrahim Mbaye opening the scoring inside the second minute. Mbaye, who impressed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, capitalised on PSG’s first opportunity to put Manchester United under early pressure.

United suffered a setback after 20 minutes when Mason Mount was forced to leave the field with an injury. Despite the setback, United absorbed the pressure before finding an equaliser shortly after the half-hour mark.

Brian Mbeumo, who had scored twice in United’s previous 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid, once again stepped up for his side. The forward produced an excellent finish to beat the PSG defence and level the score at 1-1.

Manchester United then began to exert sustained pressure on PSG, registering six shots on target compared with PSG’s two. However, Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov produced an impressive performance, making five crucial saves to prevent his side from conceding again.

Michael Carrick’s side had previously suffered a defeat against Wrexham AFC, but United have since recorded two victories and one draw in their next three matches. The result against PSG extended their unbeaten run to three games.

PSG, meanwhile, have endured a difficult run of results since their last victory, a 2-0 win over Lens in May. Since then, the French side have recorded two defeats and two draws.
