Jammu, 09 August (H.S.): Retired permanent workers and retired casual daily wagers of J&K Minerals Coal Mines held a protest outside the office of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kalakote, demanding immediate redressal of their long-pending grievances.

The protesting workers submitted a memorandum to ADDC Kalakote, Dr Tanvir Khan highlighting demands including settlement of pending CMPF and pensionary benefits, release of 6th and 7th Pay Commission arrears, reopening of the Regional CMPF office at Jammu, equal benefits for eligible retired casual and permanent workers, and revival of the closed Metka Coalmine.

ADDC Kalakote later met the protesting workers and assured them that their concerns had been taken up with the higher authorities. He informed them that he had submitted their demands earlier as well and had again taken up the matter with the concerned authorities today.

Dr Khan further conveyed that, as assured by the higher authorities, efforts are underway to address their pending demands and the workers are expected to receive relief shortly. The protesting workers appreciated the intervention and assurance given by the administration.
