Guwahati, 09 August (HS): Assam BJP spokesperson Pranjal Kalita on Sunday alleged that some opposition political forces were trying to mislead flood-affected people as the state government intensified relief and rehabilitation efforts.
He said damage assessment began in flood-hit Charaideo, Sivasagar and Jorhat districts from Sunday, with special teams formed to speed up the survey. The government has allocated ₹112 crore to provide ₹15,000 initially and ₹10,000 in the second phase to affected families.
The government has also released additional assistance for Arunodoi beneficiaries, free books and uniforms for students, funds for school repairs, and ₹9 lakh each to the next of kin of flood victims.
Kalita said the opposition was attempting to create confusion by portraying the ₹15,000 assistance as the government’s only relief measure and accused some political leaders of using the flood crisis for political gains.----------
