Jammu, 09 August (H.S.): A 25-year-old motorcyclist was killed and his wife injured after their bike was hit by an unidentified truck near Batra hospital area on the Narwal-Sidhra road here today.

The deceased has been identified as Ajay Kumar, son of Mani Ram, a resident of Pargalta, Sarah. According to police, the motorcycle (JK02CE-0280) was travelling from Narwal towards Sidhra when a truck coming from the same direction allegedly hit it while being driven at high speed and recklessly.

Ajay Kumar died on the spot, while his wife Anu, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries, police said.

They said both were shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital by ambulance.

Meanwhile taking cognizance of the incident, a case FIR number 54/2026 under sections 281 and 106 of the BNS has been registered at Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu, with further investigation set into the motion. The driver has fled from the spot and efforts are on to trace him.
