Guwahati, 07 August (HS): The week-long observance of World Breastfeeding Week concluded successfully under the Central Guwahati ICDS Project on Friday after a series of awareness programmes held from August 1 to 7.

The Women and Child Development Department organised various activities across different circles in Guwahati, while similar programmes were also conducted throughout Assam. Under the Central Guwahati Maligaon Project, the Bharalumukh Circle hosted a week-long campaign featuring awareness meetings, rallies and community outreach initiatives to promote the importance of breastfeeding.

Anganwadi workers, supervisors and officials of the Women and Child Development Department actively participated in the campaign by visiting their respective areas and interacting with beneficiaries. They conducted door-to-door visits to educate breastfeeding mothers and families on maternal and child health, exclusive breastfeeding and proper infant nutrition.

Growth monitoring sessions and several other health-related activities were also organised during the week. As part of the campaign, pledge ceremonies were held in different localities, encouraging mothers and families to ensure exclusive breastfeeding for infants during the first six months of life.-----------
