Kolkata, 07 August (H.S.) : West Bengal on Friday officially launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign with a massive rally in Kolkata, marking the state's first large-scale celebration of the nationwide initiative since the change of government earlier this year.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari inaugurated the campaign in his Bhabanipur Assembly constituency by leading a procession from Survey Building to Hazra Crossing. Thousands of people carrying the Tricolour participated in the march, turning the route into a sea of national flags.

The rally was attended by Industry Minister Tapas Chattopadhyay, School Education Minister Dipak Barman and a large number of local residents and supporters.

Addressing the gathering at Hazra Crossing, Adhikari thanked the participants for their overwhelming response and announced that another 'Tiranga Yatra' would be organised on August 10.

We have formally launched the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign today with this march from Survey Building to Hazra Crossing. We are overwhelmed by the huge public participation and grateful to everyone who joined us, the Chief Minister said.

He said the August 10 rally would begin from the Netaji statue and proceed to Gate No. 7 of Birla Planetarium, with an expected participation of around 50,000 people.

Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's message—Dil Se Tiranga, Pyar Se Tiranga, Har Ghar Tiranga—Adhikari said the campaign is aimed at strengthening the spirit of nationalism and patriotism ahead of Independence Day.

He added that with the formation of the new government in West Bengal, the state was celebrating the campaign on a large scale for the first time and extended his advance Independence Day greetings to the people.
