Mumbai, 07 Aug (HS): Rashtriya Swayamsevak
Sangh Sarsanghachalak Dr Mohan Bhagwat expressed full faith in the younger
generation and said they raise questions as they want change in the system for
a better future. They should be heard carefully and seriously.
Dr Bhagwat was addressing about 2000 Gen-Z
and Gen Alfa gathering at a programme organised by IIMUN in Mumbai. Founder of
the organisation Rishabh Shah was the anchor.
Dr Bhagwat said that he is not aware of
exact reason behind the Jantar Mantar agitation. My opinion is based on
whatever information was available. But he is relying on the statements made by
Gen-Z, as he has full faith in them. Any agitation is a democratic way of initiating
discussion. It takes the form of demonstrations when their voice is not listened.
The recent events are painful and highlighted reforms in the education system.
Earlier, seniors’ were not questioned. But
today Gen-Z raises questions and seek logical reply to their queries, Dr
Bhagwat said. The agitation by youth, however, should be within the limits of
the Constitution and and principles of democracy. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has
mentioned methods of bringing about the desired changes. He reiterated that
Gen-Z and Gen Alfa are more honest compared to earlier generations. Discussion
and affection with them is the best way to understand them.
Referring to the education system, he said
it is the basic need of the society and not a commercial venture. The goal of
education is to build the future of the coming generation and not to earn
profits. Dr Bhagwat emphasised the need to earmark at least 6% of the GDP on
education. This demand is being raised for a long time. Quality education is
not the responsibility of the government alone. The society should also
shoulder the responsibility of building the future generation.
When asked about his opinion about LGBTQ,
Dr Bhagwat said they are part of the society, which should be accepted. Proper
legislation for them should be made for them, including the same-sex marriage.
