New Delhi, 16 August (H.S.): Bangladesh strengthened their fourth position in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 standings after registering a historic nine-wicket victory over Australia in the first Test in Darwin.

The victory marked Bangladesh’s first-ever bilateral Test win on Australian soil. A century from Tanzid Hasan and five-wicket hauls from Hasan Mahmud and Mehidy Hasan Miraz played a crucial role in the landmark triumph.

Led by Najmul Hossain Shanto, Bangladesh have taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Following the victory, their points percentage (PCT) rose to 66.67.

Bangladesh have accumulated 40 points from five Tests, with three wins, one defeat and one draw. Despite the significant improvement in their percentage, they remain fourth in the standings.

Australia, meanwhile, retained the top position despite the defeat. They have a PCT of 77.78, having collected 84 points from nine Tests, including seven wins and two defeats.

South Africa remain second with a PCT of 75.00. They have won three of their four Tests and suffered one defeat. New Zealand are third with 72.22 per cent, having recorded four wins, one defeat and one draw from six Tests for 52 points.

India occupy fifth place with a PCT of 48.15. They have earned 52 points from nine Tests, with four wins, four defeats and one draw.

Sri Lanka are sixth with 41.67 per cent after one win, one defeat and two draws from four Tests.

England are seventh with a PCT of 24.36. They have played 13 Tests, winning four and losing eight, with one draw. After an eight-point deduction, England have 38 points.

Pakistan are eighth with 22.22 per cent, having won two and lost four of their six Tests. They have 16 points after an eight-point deduction.

West Indies occupy ninth place with 20.83 per cent. They have two wins, seven defeats and two draws from 12 Tests and have 30 points after a two-point deduction.
