Hyderabad, Aug 15 (HS): Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday said maintaining strong law and order was the first major requirement for the development of any state, and asserted that his government was working to position Telangana as a safe destination for investments, industries and international events.
Addressing the Independence Day celebrations after hoisting the national flag at Golconda Fort here, Reddy said the government was taking stringent measures against drug trafficking and food adulteration.
He said the state had established the TG-SAFE system to bring the fight against drugs and food adulteration under a single framework. Extensive inspections would be carried out and stringent action taken through dedicated legal, laboratory and enforcement wings, he said.
Reddy said the government had also established the TG Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau to address traffic congestion in urban areas and reduce accidents on highways and the Outer Ring Road.
He highlighted initiatives aimed at protecting women, children and youth, including SHE Teams, Anti-Human Trafficking Units and Bharosa centres. Telangana had pioneered child-friendly courts through the Bharosa project, he said.
On digital governance, Reddy said the government had implemented the e-Office system across all 36 Secretariat departments and conducted the country's first fully digital Cabinet meeting. More than 581 government services have also been made accessible through WhatsApp, he said.
He said Telangana had established the country's first state-level AI data exchange, TGDEX, while T-Fiber had extended digital connectivity to 8,895 Gram Panchayats under the second phase of BharatNet.
The Chief Minister announced that PrajaVani would be launched in all MPDO offices across the state from August 17 to address public grievances at the mandal level. The programme would be held every Monday and an online portal would subsequently be introduced to enable people to submit grievances from anywhere in the state, he said.
On infrastructure, Reddy said the state was advancing the Regional Ring Road project, spanning around 360 km around Hyderabad, besides 6,092 km of roads under the HAM model and radial road networks.
He said the second phase of Hyderabad Metro Rail would expand the network by 122.9 km across seven corridors. Revival of Mamunoor Airport and development of a joint-use airfield in Adilabad were also among the priorities.
Reddy said HYDRAA had been established to protect lakes, storm-water drains and government lands, while several lakes, including Bathukammakunta and Nallacheruvu, were being restored.
He said the government had prepared a comprehensive plan for rejuvenation of the Musi River along a 55-km stretch, including construction of 39 Sewage Treatment Plants and a plan to divert 2.5 TMC of fresh water from the Godavari River to the Musi.
On investments and employment, the Chief Minister said Telangana had emerged as a Top Achiever in the Business Reforms Action Plan and had secured investments worth Rs 1.29 lakh crore through TG-iPASS, with more than 78,000 jobs expected to be created.
He said Memorandums of Understanding worth Rs 5.75 lakh crore were signed during the Telangana Rising Global Summit-2025. The summit would be held again this year, he added.
Reddy said IT exports from Telangana had reached Rs 3.97 lakh crore in 2025-26, while direct IT employment had risen to 12.14 lakh. More than 355 Global Capability Centres are currently operating in Hyderabad, with 40 new centres established in 2026, he said.
He also highlighted investments in data centres, cloud computing and artificial intelligence, including an additional investment of $7 billion announced by Amazon in Telangana. A hyperscale, AI-ready cloud infrastructure campus is being developed in the Bharat Future City and Chandanvelly areas, he said.
On tourism, Reddy said the state had introduced its first comprehensive Tourism Policy in 2025 and emerged as the country's leading state in establishing Youth Tourism Clubs. A development plan worth Rs 1,000 crore had been prepared for the Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled for next year, he said.
The Chief Minister said the government was working towards its Telangana Rising-2047 vision, with a target of transforming the state into a one-trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and a three-trillion-dollar economy by 2047. It also aims to increase Telangana's share of the national GDP to 10 per cent, he said.
He said the state had formulated a three-zone development plan comprising CURE (Core Urban Region Economy) inside the Outer Ring Road, PURE (Peri-Urban Region Economy) between the Outer Ring Road and Regional Ring Road, and RARE (Rural-Agri Region Economy) beyond the RRR.
Reddy said Bharat Future City was being developed as the country's first net-zero smart city and would serve as a hub for artificial intelligence, data centres, advanced manufacturing, research, innovation and future technologies.
He said the government had laid the foundation for the reconstruction of Telangana over the past two and a half years and called for people's continued cooperation in transforming the state into a role model for the country.
