Nagpur, 14 Aug (HS): Claims of Maharashtra being Maharashtra engine

of the National industrial development, appears a misnomer, with the Central

Government’s official figures presented in the parliament. During the last five

years as many as 36,211 private companies were either liquidated, dissolved or

removed from the Company’s registration records. The information was sought by

MP Rajabhau Waje in the Lok Sabha.

The

important district for industrial development Nashik 840 companies in the list.

Pune faces closure of 6,433 companies, Thane 4,704 companies, Mumbai City

12,009, Nagpur 1,478 and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar 654 companies.

With

the closure of the companies the workers were rendered jobless, their provident

fund and gratuity have not been paid and salaries remained unpaid. The cases of

the workers for the unpaid dues are pending for the last few years.

Waje

demanded that number of new industries granted permission may be provided so

that the new initiative and failure in the past could be compared. With the new

industries coming to Maharashtra State and number of moving out of the state

could also be compared.

Besides

the districts mentioned above number of companies in other districts are –

Raigad – 822, Ahmednagar – 305, Jalgaoin -215 and Satara – 196.

The

categories of the companies that were closed include-

Service

Section – 14,613; Manufacturing, Mining and Excavation – 6.582; Trading -4196;

Community and Personal Services – 3,361; Construction – 2,356; Transport,

Storage – 1,336; Stable and rented property – 1,149; Agriculture and allied industry

– 1,178; Finance – 1,012; Power, and Water – 387 and Insurance – 41.

Waje said that the issue of a large number of companies and worker related

issues need serious attention.
