Guwahati, 13 August (HS): As the inaugural Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League (APL) 2026 crosses its halfway mark, Dibrugarh Warriors seamer Doikho Das has emerged as one of the tournament’s standout performers. The Warriors have won five of their six matches and are currently second on the points table.

Das, who claimed impressive figures of 4/33 against Charaideo Sunrisers, credits Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya as his cricketing idol. Inspired by Pandya, Das has focused on hitting the deck hard and troubling batters with aggressive short-pitched deliveries.

“I consider the short ball my stock delivery. It has brought me success, and with the pitches offering assistance, I am leaning into that strength,” Das said.

Although he is yet to get an opportunity to showcase his batting in the APL, Das remains confident about contributing as an all-rounder. “I haven’t had the chance to bat yet, but I’m ready to make an impact whenever the opportunity arises,” he added.

With 13 wickets from six matches at an economy rate of 7.80, Das has been one of the tournament’s major finds. He attributes his success to a simple and disciplined approach.

“My mindset is clear. I don’t focus on the batter; I only focus on hitting my areas and sticking to the plan,” he said.

Despite his impressive numbers, Das remains focused on the team’s success. “Personal performances don’t matter as much if the team doesn’t win. I’m not satisfied yet because I want to keep improving to help the team move forward,” he said.

The Warriors were unbeaten at the top of the table before their recent defeat to Guwahati Royals pushed them down to second place. Das, however, remains confident about the team’s prospects.

“Our team is performing well. Losses are part of the game; we’ll learn from our mistakes and bounce back in the upcoming matches,” he said.----------
