MOSCOW, August 12 (HS/RIA Novosti) - US Vice President JD Vance has told Vladimir Zelensky that Kiev must stop attacks on the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) facilities in the Black Sea, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday, citing US and Ukrainian officials.

On Saturday, Bloomberg reported that at the request of the US Ukraine had agreed to stop strikes on non-Russian tankers and the CPC facilities in the Black Sea used for oil deliveries from Kazakhstan.

According to the Financial Times' sources, Vance voiced this request to Zelensky during a phone call on July 31. Kiev has not attacked any oil tankers near the CPC terminals since then.

We very carefully listen to our American partners, an unnamed senior Ukrainian official told the paper.

The United States was reportedly alarmed by Ukraine's actions as they were destabilizing oil markets and doing harm to US companies engaged in deliveries of oil from Kazakhstan.

Kiev reportedly agreed to stop the attacks on the CPC infrastructure and non-Russian tankers on condition that they are not sanctioned by Ukraine and do not carry Russian oil.

On July 19, two tankers were targeted by drones at the CPC marine terminal in the Black Sea. The vessels, sailing under Liberian (ASIA) and Marshall Islands (NISSOS IOS) flags, had international crews, the CPC said.

The Russian Foreign Ministry accused Ukraine of trying to inflict irreparable damage on the consortium. It described strikes on civilian vessels at the CPC terminal as an attack on the interests of the consortium's participating states. Kiev is indifferent to the economic damage inflicted on the US and Europe and shows no regard for its partners, including Kazakhstan, the ministry said. Russia called on the international community to condemn Kiev's attacks on the tankers.
