New Delhi, 11 August (H.S.):

The Central government has transferred six senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers as part of a major administrative reshuffle. According to an order issued by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Monday, 1994-batch IAS officer Pallavi Jain Govil of the Madhya Pradesh cadre has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Deepti Gaur Mukherjee has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Higher Education.

According to the order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Govil, who is currently Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs, will succeed Deepti Gaur Mukherjee as Secretary of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.

Tamil Nadu-cadre IAS officer Sunil Paliwal, a 1993-batch officer, has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Youth Affairs in place of Govil. Paliwal is currently serving as Chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI).

Deepti Gaur Mukherjee, a 1993-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has also been transferred and appointed Secretary of the Department of Higher Education under the Ministry of Education. She will succeed Vineet Joshi, who has been appointed Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Sushil Kumar Lohani, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Odisha cadre, has been appointed Chairman of the Inland Waterways Authority of India while serving as Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Cabinet Secretariat. The authority functions under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Lohani will be given the status and pay of a Secretary to the Government of India, with the post of Chairman being temporarily upgraded to the Secretary level for the purpose.

V.L. Kantha Rao, a 1992-batch IAS officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre, has also been transferred. He has been appointed Officer on Special Duty in the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs, replacing him from the post of Secretary in the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation.

Rao will hold the status and pay of a Secretary and will take over as Secretary of the Department of Official Language after Anshuli Arya retires on September 30, 2026.

Archana Verma, a 1995-batch IAS officer of the Assam-Meghalaya cadre, has been appointed Secretary of the Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation under the Ministry of Jal Shakti. She will succeed V.L. Kantha Rao.

Verma is currently serving as Mission Director of the National Water Mission and will take charge of the department following the latest administrative reshuffle.
