Mysuru, 01 August (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday highlighted the contribution of India's youth to the country's growing startup ecosystem and said young people have become a driving force behind India's development journey. Addressing a gathering after inaugurating the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre and Viveka Smaraka in Mysuru, Karnataka, the Prime Minister said his government is committed to modernising India's education infrastructure and preparing students for future challenges.

The Prime Minister said the potential of young people can become a source of national strength only when they receive the right opportunities, proper guidance, and the confidence to dream big and achieve their goals within the country.

Highlighting the role of educational institutions in nation-building, PM Modi said India has witnessed significant growth in the education sector in recent years. He noted that the country is continuously expanding its network of educational institutions and improving access to professional education.

While praising the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Prime Minister said the policy is designed to prepare Indian youth for the demands of the 21st century. He emphasised that students can now pursue subjects such as engineering and medical education in their mother tongues, making higher education more accessible.

India's youth have immense potential, and when this potential receives the right direction and opportunities, it transforms into the strength of the nation, PM Modi said during his address.

Speaking about healthcare education, the Prime Minister said the number of medical colleges and MBBS seats in the country has increased substantially, providing more opportunities for aspiring medical students.

During the inauguration of the Viveka Smaraka, PM Modi expressed hope that the centre would develop into a place of spiritual inspiration and a platform for youth development. He said the facility should help shape young minds by promoting the values and teachings of Swami Vivekananda.

Recalling Vivekananda's vision, the Prime Minister said the spiritual leader considered equality and education equally important for the progress of society. He added that ensuring equal access to education and opportunities without discrimination remains a key national objective.

The Prime Minister's remarks came amid ongoing discussions over reforms in India's examination system and education sector. The government has taken several steps to strengthen examination transparency, including introducing stricter measures against malpractice and paper leaks.

PM Modi also reiterated his commitment to making India's examination system more secure and reliable, stressing that reforms in education are essential for empowering the country's youth and supporting India's future growth.
