Guwahati, 01 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that the state government's flagship Arunodoi scheme will be resumed two days ahead of the previously announced date.
In a social media post, the Chief Minister described Arunodoi as a strong pillar of women’s empowerment in Assam and said the government has decided to restart the scheme earlier than the scheduled August 3 launch.
Keeping in view the severity of the recent flood situation, the Chief Minister further announced that women beneficiaries in the more severely flood-affected districts will receive ₹2,500 each under the August installment of the scheme.
The government said the decision has been taken to provide additional financial support to mothers and sisters in the flood-hit regions and help them cope with the aftermath of the disaster.----------
