
New Delhi, 08 July (H.S.): The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken a stern view of the alleged gangrape and human trafficking case involving a minor girl in Rajasthan's Sriganganagar district. The Commission has directed the District Collector and the Superintendent of Police to submit a comprehensive action-taken report within 15 days.
NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar reviewed the case on Wednesday and issued a series of important directions to the concerned authorities.
In a statement issued to the media, the Chairperson said that serious lapses on the part of the district administration and the police had come to light in the case. She directed that the investigation be completed expeditiously, the chargesheet be filed within the stipulated time, and court proceedings begin at the earliest to ensure speedy justice for the survivor.
According to the Commission, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has so far arrested 18 accused, including hotel owners and managers. The NCW has instructed the authorities to ensure the prompt arrest of all remaining accused persons.
The Commission also directed the district administration to take action within 15 days against all illegal and unregistered hotels operating in the district. It further instructed the police to investigate why the local policing and surveillance mechanism failed despite the scale and seriousness of the incident.
The NCW Chairperson also ordered the immediate removal of videos and other content related to the survivor from social media platforms and called for strict legal action against those responsible for circulating such material.
Additionally, the Commission directed the authorities to ensure the survivor's security, medical treatment, rehabilitation and financial assistance without delay.
