UNITED NATIONS, July 6 (HS/RIA Novosti) - UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said on Monday that the widespread introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an experiment on modern society without a plan and without the consent of people.

An experiment is being run on our own societies – without a plan, and without consent. That is not sustainable. And it is not acceptable, Guterres said at a conference on AI.

This technology is already transforming the world, and now the question is whether the humanity will shape this transformation, or let the AI it, he stated.

Guterres also called for a number of restrictions to be imposed on the work of AI in order to regain control over its development.

These restrictions should be accepted by both governments and development companies, the UN chief opined.
