Bhubaneswar, 06 July (H.S.) Responding to opposition allegations over deletion of voters’ names from the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) list, BJP Odisha president Manmohan Samal on Monday said the entire process is fully autonomous and follows a structured 90-day framework.

Speaking to reporters, Samal clarified that the first phase of the SIR exercise involving form collection has been completed, and the second phase of hearing complaints and objections is currently underway.

He said that names cannot be added or removed from the voter list merely on the basis of media reports or public allegations. Instead, the process follows a formal mechanism where all objections are examined, and individuals are given the opportunity to submit relevant documents and evidence.

Samal further stated that the complaint redressal process will continue for around two months, during which all claims will be verified in detail by the authorities concerned.

He also noted that if a voter’s name is found in more than one location, it will be retained in one place and removed from the other to ensure accuracy and transparency in the electoral roll.
