Barpeta (Assam), 06 July (HS): A devastating fire broke out at Mandia Market in Assam's Barpeta district, reducing several business establishments to ashes and causing property damage worth several lakh rupees.

According to initial reports, the blaze is suspected to have been triggered by a short circuit. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing multiple shops before local residents rushed to the spot and attempted to control the flames.

On being informed, a team from the Fire and Emergency Services reached the scene and, with the assistance of local people, managed to bring the fire under control after sustained efforts. No casualties have been reported, while the exact extent of the losses is being assessed.----------
