Guwahati, 06 July (HS): The first Budget Session of the Sixteenth Assam Legislative Assembly commenced on Monday and will continue until July 31. The session, being held at the Assembly building in Dispur, will feature the presentation of the full Budget for the financial year 2026-27.

A significant highlight of this session is the introduction of Hindi as one of the languages used in the Assembly proceedings, alongside Assamese, English and Bodo. This marks the first time in the history of the Assam Legislative Assembly that proceedings will be conducted in four languages.

The session is expected to witness discussions on the state's financial priorities, developmental initiatives and several important legislations, including proposed bills related to tourism and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).----------
