
Guwahati, 06 July (HS): Assam Police, in a joint operation with the Assam Rifles, seized 80,000 Yaba tablets worth nearly ₹8 crore from different operations in the state and arrested two alleged drug traffickers, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma said through social media.
The Chief Minister lauded the efforts of Cachar Police, Hailakandi Police and the Assam Rifles for their successful anti-drug operations. In the social media post, he said the seizures reflected the state's continued commitment to its Assam Against Drugs campaign.
In one of the operations, Ramnathpur Police in Hailakandi district recovered 50,000 Yaba tablets valued at around ₹5 crore. The accused, identified as Mohammad Ihaya, was arrested during the operation, and the contraband was seized from his possession.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the Assam Police remains relentless in its crackdown on drug trafficking, asserting that the campaign against narcotics would continue with full force across the state.---------
