The Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday paid floral tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee at his statue on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary. Party leaders also planted saplings to mark the occasion and promote environmental conservation.
The tribute programme, led by Delhi BJP President Harsh Malhotra, was attended by Organisation General Secretary Pawan Rana, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta, Deputy Speaker Mohan Singh Bisht, Delhi Minister Parvesh Sahib Singh, Member of Parliament Manoj Tiwari, State General Secretary Vishnu Mittal, State Vice Presidents Dinesh Pratap Singh, Gajendra Yadav and Yogita Singh, Treasurer Satish Garg, former Delhi BJP Presidents Virendra Sachdeva, Dr. Harsh Vardhan and Adesh Gupta, former Delhi BJP in-charge Shyam Jaju, Office Secretary Brijesh Rai, State Spokesperson Yasir Jilani, along with several senior party leaders and workers.
Addressing the gathering, Harsh Malhotra said that Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee and his ideals would always remain alive in the hearts of every nationalist Indian, particularly BJP workers. He said Dr. Mookerjee placed national interest above power and sacrificed his life while taking the message of One Nation, One Constitution to the people.
He further said that Dr. Mookerjee's life remains an inspiring example of dedication to national service, a united India and national unity. According to Malhotra, his vision and ideals continue to motivate the country's youth and party workers to contribute to nation-building.
The programme concluded with a plantation drive, during which party leaders and workers reaffirmed their commitment to environmental conservation and pledged to follow the ideals and vision of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
