
Lucknow, 06 July (HS): A cabinet meeting chaired by Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday approved a proposal to rename the town of
Jalalabad in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur district as Parshurampuri. The
cabinet also discussed and made decisions on several important proposals.
After the cabinet meeting, Finance and Parliamentary Affairs
Minister Suresh Khanna told reporters that Jalalabad, a town in the Jalalabad
Municipal Council area of Shahjahanpur district, is renowned as the birthplace
of Lord Parashurama. It is prominently mentioned in mythological stories and
scriptures. Following the demand of public representatives and local residents,
the central government granted no objection. In line with this, the cabinet has
approved the proposal to change the name of Jalalabad to Parashurampuri.
A proposal has been approved to select medal-winning
athletes from the Olympics, Paralympics, Asian Games, and Commonwealth Games
through direct recruitment. Nine sports officer positions, three district youth
welfare officers, and 23 deputy sports officer positions will be filled through
direct recruitment. The government has also taken a decision on the proposal
regarding obtaining approval for issuing municipal bonds for Municipal
Corporation Gorakhpur and Moradabad and providing funds for the Infrastructure
Development Fund.
The proposal regarding providing land for setting up a
100-bed hospital of Employees State Insurance Corporation in Gorakhpur has been
approved by the Cabinet. A proposal regarding providing cashless medical care
to Home Guard volunteers/honorary officers working under the Uttar Pradesh Home
Guard Department and their dependent family members was approved. Other
proposals, including the Uttar Pradesh Data Center Policy, were also approved.
