Last-Mile Governance Must Reach Every Region: Andhra CM Naidu

Amaravati, July 6 (HS): Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday stressed that last-mile governance must effectively reach every constituency and directed officials to ensure faster and more efficient delivery of public services through the Real-Time Governance (RTG) Centre.

Reviewing the functioning of the RTG Centre at the State Secretariat after returning from his five-day district tour, the Chief Minister said political leadership and bureaucratic machinery should work in tandem to achieve development and good governance.

Naidu directed officials to ensure that the RTG Centre functions round the clock to provide real-time responses to citizens' grievances and emergency situations.

Referring to the recent fishing boat mishap off the Visakhapatnam coast in which fishermen went missing, he said the effectiveness of the government's response depends on timely coordination among various departments. He suggested regular inter-departmental coordination meetings under the chairmanship of the Chief Secretary to strengthen emergency response mechanisms.

The Chief Minister said Artificial Intelligence-based tools are being used to assess citizen satisfaction in Chittoor district and emphasised that field visits by officials help understand public feedback. He directed officials to dispose of pending Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) applications on priority and prepare a comprehensive action plan for grievance resolution across departments.

He instructed Collectors and senior officials to take responsibility for ensuring visible results on the ground and asked departments to classify grievances into financial and non-financial categories for quicker disposal.

Naidu also directed officials to establish Anna Canteens in tribal areas and intensify efforts to curb crimes against women and eliminate ganja networks across the state. He said the Centre's vision of a drug-free India should guide the state's anti-narcotics initiatives.

The Chief Minister asked departments to continuously assess the outcomes of government schemes and issue standard operating procedures for drinking water supply, waste collection and sanitation services.

He directed officials to clear nearly 23 lakh metric tonnes of legacy municipal waste within three months and reiterated that creating zero-waste urban local bodies should be the state's objective.

Naidu also called for an action plan to improve mobile connectivity in remote areas by establishing new telecom towers in coordination with service providers. He further instructed all departments to analyse the outcomes of the AWARE 2.0 programme within a month and adopt innovative governance practices to improve service delivery.

Minister Kolusu Parthasaradhi, Chief Secretary G. Sai Prasad, Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and senior officials attended the review meeting.
