
Kolkata, 06 July (H.S.): West Bengal Governor R. N. Ravi on Monday paid tributes to Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee on his 125th birth anniversary, describing him as a great nationalist leader, visionary statesman and distinguished scholar whose ideals would continue to inspire future generations.
In a message posted on X, the Governor said the nation was paying homage with gratitude and humility to Dr. Mookerjee, who dedicated his life to safeguarding India's unity and integrity during one of the most critical phases of the country's history.
Ravi said that at the time of Partition, when India's unity faced unprecedented challenges, Dr. Mookerjee's firm and resolute leadership played a decisive role in ensuring that West Bengal remained an integral part of India.
The Governor further said that Dr. Mookerjee's supreme sacrifice for the complete integration of Jammu and Kashmir into the Indian Union continued to inspire generations. He noted that the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 fulfilled Dr. Mookerjee's long-cherished vision for the full integration of the region with the rest of the country.
Expressing confidence in the enduring relevance of Dr. Mookerjee's nationalist ideals, Ravi said his vision would continue to guide both the nation and West Bengal in achieving the goals of Viksit Bharat and Viksit Bengal by 2047.
To mark the occasion, the Governor also offered floral tributes to a portrait of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee at Lok Bhavan in Kolkata.
