Chandigarh, 05 July (H.S.): In a major crackdown on organised crime, the STF Bahadurgarh of Haryana Police and the Counter Intelligence, Special Cell of Delhi Police conducted a joint operation in the Bahadurgarh area, resulting in the neutralisation of two wanted members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

The deceased have been identified as Pravesh, a resident of Tibba Danasher in Hisar district, and Himanshu resident of Jakhod Khera village in Hisar. Both carried a cash reward of ₹1 lakh each and were wanted in the high-profile murder case of Hansi gym owner Kapil, registered on June 11, 2026.

According to Haryana Police, the operation was launched following specific intelligence inputs indicating that the two accused, armed with sophisticated weapons, were hiding in the Bahadurgarh area and planning to execute a major criminal act. As the joint police team attempted to apprehend them, the accused allegedly opened indiscriminate fire. The police retaliated in self-defence, leading to an exchange of fire in which both accused and one police personnel sustained injuries.

During the encounter, bullets struck the bulletproof jackets of four police personnel, preventing what officials described as a major tragedy. All the injured were rushed to a hospital, where Pravesh and Himanshu were declared dead during treatment. The injured police officer is undergoing treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.

Police recovered weapons and other crucial evidence from the encounter site. Further investigation and legal proceedings are underway.

Haryana Director General of Police Ajay Singhal said the action reflects Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini's zero-tolerance policy against crime. He stated that Haryana Police remains committed to taking firm and decisive action against organised crime, gangster networks and anti-social elements while ensuring the safety of its personnel and maintaining the rule of law.
