New Delhi, 05 July (H.S.): The Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the Government of West Bengal, will inaugurate the two-year official commemoration of Bharat Kesari Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s 125th birth anniversary with a special memorial programme at Milan Mela Ground in Kolkata on Monday (July 6, 2026).

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah will attend the event as the chief guest. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Chief Secretary of the Government of West Bengal Manoj Agrawal, Secretary, Ministry of Culture, Vivek Agrawal, and several other distinguished dignitaries will also be present at the programme.

It may be recalled that the Ministry of Culture announced a two-year nationwide commemoration in 2025 to honour the enduring legacy of Bharat Kesari Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, the visionary statesman, educationist, parliamentarian, and nationalist leader, on the occasion of his 125th birth anniversary.
