
Imphal, 04 July (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police carried out a series of coordinated operations across the state over the last 24 hours, arresting several active insurgent cadres and drug traffickers while recovering arms, narcotics and cash.
According to the official information on Saturday, on Friday, security forces apprehended an active KCP (PWG) cadre, Kangabam Deni Singh alias Bony (40), from the Langathel Khongjom Road area in Thoubal district. On the same day, two active RPF/PLA cadres, including an alleged extortionist and the outfit's Finance Secretary for Imphal West, were arrested from their respective residences. During the operation, security personnel recovered a .32 pistol, a STEYR M9-A1 pistol with a loaded magazine, a 12-bore DBBL gun, an SBBL gun and ammunition.
In another operation on Friday, Manipur Police arrested Ningthoujam Aknganba Meitei (27) from Imphal East district for his alleged involvement in the 2023 looting of the MPTC Pangei armoury and a firing incident at a residential locality in Tangkham Awang Leikai.
Earlier, Manipur Police arrested three residents of Churachandpur district in connection with drug trafficking. The police seized 186 soap cases containing around 2.5 kg of suspected brown sugar, cash amounting to ₹31.43 lakh, a Bolero vehicle and a cash-counting machine.
Meanwhile, security forces arrested two active PLA cadres from the vicinity of Border Pillar-86 under Tengnoupal district. Both arrested individuals are residents of Thoubal district.
The operations are part of the ongoing crackdown by security forces and Manipur Police against insurgent activities, illegal arms possession and narcotics trafficking across the state.----------
