Glasgow, 31 July (H.S.): India's Seema Kaliramna secured the bronze medal in the women's discus throw final at the Commonwealth Games 2026 on Thursday.

Her best effort of 58.65 metres, achieved on her second attempt, proved sufficient to earn her a place on the podium, despite recording only two valid throws out of her six attempts.

The other Indian competitor in the event, Nidhi Rani, finished fourth with a best throw of 57.10 metres, narrowly missing out on a medal.

This marks India's ninth medal in the women's discus throw at the Commonwealth Games, with Kaliramna becoming the sixth different Indian athlete to win a medal in the event. Veteran discus thrower Seema Punia remains India's most decorated athlete in the discipline at the Commonwealth Games, having won four medals, including three silver.

Jamaica's Samantha Hall claimed the gold medal with a best throw of 61.66 metres, while Canada's Julia Tunks secured the silver with a throw of 60.67 metres.
