Mumbai, 31 July (HS): Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis performed bhoopujan

(ground breaking) of the proposed Lokshahir Sahityaratna Annabhau Sathe Research

and Training Institute and Memorial in Chiragnagar of Mumbai’s Ghatkopar area.

He said that the Institute at Annabhau Sathe’s birthplace will be an inspiration

to labourer and marginalised section of the society and will be a symbol for

social change.

Fadnavis said the proposal was cleared by the State Government in 2016. Instead

of developing it through private builder, the government has decided to develop

it through the Sum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) to ensure transparency.

Rehabilitation of the displaced will be top on the priority list of the state

government and work will be started simultaneously with the rehabilitation process.

Annabhau Sathe’s literature has been translated into more than 27

languages, including Russian, French and Italvi (read in Italy, Switzerland,

San Marino and the Vatican).

Fadnavis said that the Research and Training Institution is expected to

be completed by July 2029. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be invited for its

inauguration.

Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Union Social Justice Minister

Ramdas Athawale, Maharashtra’s Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha,

Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, Social Justice Minister Sanjay Shirsat

and family members and relatives of Annabhau Sathe were present.
