
Amritsar, 31 July (H.S.): Amritsar Rural Police has apprehended four accused including a juvenile involved in the attack on Police Post Chamiari of Police Station Ajnala, said Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav here Friday. Those arrested have been identified as Karanbir Singh alias Gora, Manideep Singh, both residents of village Harar Khurd in Amritsar; Pardeep singh alias Love, a resident of Gujjarpura in Amritsar and a juvenile. DGP Gaurav Yadav said that preliminary investigation has revealed that the arrested accused were in contact with an ISI-sponsored handler through social media and had received funds to execute the attack.
The DGP said that further investigation is underway to trace the backward and forward linkages in this case to identify the entire network, and uncover the funding channels.

Sharing operational details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amristar Rural Kanwalpreet Singh Chahal said that following the incident, specials teams were immediately constituted to crack this case.
On the basis of human intelligence and technical inputs, the culprits were identified, he said, while adding that further probe resulted in the arrest of the four individuals.
The SSP said that accused Manideep and Pardeep conducted recce and hatched a plan, whereas Karanbir along with his juvenile associate executed the attack on Police Post Chamiari. The motorcycle used in the incident is yet to be recovered, he added.
e said that preliminary findings have also indicated that ISI handlers are allegedly attempting to recruit and radicalise unemployed youth in the 15–25 years age group for to carry out anti-national activities in the border state.
In this regard, a case FIR No. was already registered at Police Station Ajnala.
