Guwahati, 30 July (HS): Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Thursday conducted an aerial survey of flood-affected areas in Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat districts to assess the extent of damage caused by the current wave of floods and review ongoing relief and rescue operations.

During his visit to Sivasagar district, the Governor inspected the Laxmi Nagar Relief Camp and the Sivasagar High School Relief Camp. He interacted with flood-affected families, reviewed the facilities available at the camps and distributed relief materials. He also enquired about the availability of food, drinking water, healthcare, sanitation and other essential services.

Assuring the affected families of full government support, the Governor said every effort is being made to provide timely relief and restore normalcy. He also stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are closely monitoring the flood situation in Assam and extending all necessary assistance to the state.

The Governor directed the district administration to give special attention to children, women, lactating mothers, senior citizens and students staying in relief camps, ensuring that no affected family is deprived of essential support. He also appreciated the efforts of the district administration, disaster response teams, security forces, health personnel, volunteers and local communities for their dedicated service during the crisis.

Assam Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta, Sivasagar Guardian Minister Bimal Bora, senior government officials and district administration personnel accompanied the Governor during the visit.-----------
