UT Administration Makes Draft Rules Public, Seeks
Suggestions from Industry, Trade Unions and Citizens Within One Month
Chandigarh, 03 July (H.S.): The Chandigarh
Administration has taken a major step towards implementing the four new labour
codes introduced by the Central Government. The Labour Department of the UT
Administration has made public the draft rules prepared under these four labour
codes.
The draft rules have also been uploaded on the official
website of the Labour Department so that employees, industry bodies, companies,
trade unions and the general public can study them and submit their suggestions
or objections.
According to the administration, the rules will be
finalised only after considering the views and suggestions of all stakeholders.
The four major labour laws for which draft rules have
been issued include the Code on Wages, 2019; the Industrial Relations Code,
2020; the Code on Social Security, 2020; and the Occupational Safety, Health
and Working Conditions Code, 2020.
Once implemented, these rules are expected to bring
changes in matters related to wages, employment, social security, industrial
relations and workplace safety.
The Chandigarh Administration has also fixed separate timelines for
submitting suggestions and objections under different codes. A period of 30
days has been given for submitting suggestions on the rules issued under the
Code on Wages, 2019, and the Industrial Relations Code, 2020.
