Prayagraj, 29 July (HS): According to agricultural meteorologists
at the India Meteorological Department, technical officer Prateek Kumar, only
light rainfall is expected in the district over the coming week. This weather
will be favorable for normal growth of Kharif crops, but the hot and humid
atmosphere may increase the incidence of pests and diseases in other crops,
including paddy. Farmers have been advised to exercise caution due to the
possibility of thunderstorms and lightning on July 29.
Agricultural experts have advised farmers to regularly
monitor their fields, conserve soil moisture, and apply supplemental irrigation
when necessary. They are also advised to periodically monitor leaf folder and
stem borer in rice, and whitefly, aphid, and leaf spot diseases in other Kharif
crops, and take necessary control measures.
He also asked the farmers to complete weeding, fertilizer
management and other agricultural work on time when the weather is favourable,
so that healthy growth and better production of Kharif crops can be ensured.
