New Delhi, 29 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his greetings to the nation on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima and highlighted the significance of gurus in shaping an individual's life. He said that a guru does not merely impart knowledge but also inspires disciples with positive energy and nurtures them with noble thoughts and values.
The Prime Minister urged people to make the teachings and ideals of their gurus a source of strength and guidance throughout their lives.
On Wednesday, Prime Minister Modi shared a Sanskrit verse, “प्रेरकः सूचकश्चैव वाचको दर्शकस्तथा। शिक्षकः बोधकश्चैव षडेते गुरवः स्मृताः॥” on social media platform X.
The verse describes the six forms of a guru and explains that a person who inspires others, provides the right direction, imparts knowledge and understanding of truth, offers guidance, educates, and helps develop wisdom for self-improvement is remembered and respected as a guru.
Explaining the essence of the verse, Prime Minister Modi said that gurus play a crucial role not only by providing knowledge but also by filling their disciples with positive energy and shaping their character through good thoughts, values and moral teachings.
He emphasised that the guidance and principles provided by gurus remain a lifelong foundation for personal growth and success.
