Guwahati, 29 July (HS): Guwahati Police have arrested a murder accused who had been absconding for nearly a month in connection with a homicide case registered at Dispur Police Station.

According to the East Guwahati Police District, Dispur Police Station Case No. 486/2026 was registered on July 2 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, based on a complaint filed by A. Kaium Khan of Krishna Nagar, Japorigog.

Police said an altercation took place in the early hours of July 2 between Abdul Razzak and Khanin Das at Ujal Nagar in Kahilipara. The dispute allegedly turned into a physical assault, during which Abdul Razzak sustained serious injuries. He was rushed to Dispur Polyclinic Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Following an extensive investigation, police traced and apprehended the accused, Khanin Das (37), a resident of Metuakuchi Santinagar in Barpeta district, on July 27 with the assistance of Barpeta Police.

The accused was formally arrested and produced before the court, which remanded him to judicial custody.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish all the facts and circumstances surrounding the incident and necessary legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.----------
