
Guwahati, 29 July (HS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced a relief package worth ₹16 crore for people affected by the devastating floods in Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off vehicles carrying relief materials for the flood-hit districts on Wednesday.
The consignment includes 1.80 lakh mekhela chadors, 1.80 lakh T-shirts and 1.5 lakh blankets. These relief materials are primarily being sent to flood-affected families in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts.
The Chief Minister said that a portion of the relief supplies will also be distributed among flood victims in Golaghat and Jorhat districts.
Dr. Sarma further announced that the state government will hold discussions with banks on Wednesday to explore the possibility of providing relaxation in EMI repayments for people affected by the floods in the worst-hit districts.-----------
