Imphal, 28 July (HS): Manipur Police arrested four active insurgent cadres linked to three banned outfits in a series of coordinated counter-insurgency operations conducted across Kakching, Imphal East and Imphal West districts.

During an operation at Nungoo Lamkhai under Sugnu Police Station in Kakching district, police apprehended two active members of the banned SOREPA. The arrested cadres were identified as Marcus Thiyam alias Tompok (22) and Heikrujam William Meitei (22), both residents of Khongyam Makha Leikai.

In another operation, security personnel arrested an active cadre of the RPF/PLA, Yendrembam Athouba Meitei alias Atomba alias Takhelngamba (21), from an abandoned house at New Lambulane under Porompat Police Station. He is a resident of Moreh Premnagar Ward No. 4 in Tengnoupal district.

Police also arrested an alleged extortionist and active KCP (MFL) cadre, Yensenbam Chandrasen Meitei alias Pase (52), from the Langdum Lamkhai area under Irilbung Police Station.

According to police, the arrests were part of ongoing security operations aimed at suppressing insurgent activities and dismantling extortion networks operating in the state. Further investigation into the cases is in progress.-----------
