Barpeta (Assam), 27 July (HS): A shocking murder case has rocked Bilasipara Pathar near Barpeta Road, where a man was allegedly stabbed to death by his son-in-law following a family dispute.

According to local sources, the accused, identified as Johar Ali, allegedly arrived at his father-in-law Kashem Ali's residence in an intoxicated state during the early hours of Monday. An argument reportedly broke out after the victim objected to his behaviour, following which the accused allegedly attacked him with a sharp weapon, inflicting fatal injuries.

After the incident, the accused attempted to flee. However, family members raised an alarm, prompting local residents to chase and apprehend him before handing him over to Barpeta Road Police.

Police reached the spot, recovered the body and took the accused into custody. The deceased has been sent for post-mortem examination, while a forensic team has launched an investigation at the crime scene.

The incident has triggered widespread shock in the locality, with the victim's family and residents demanding strict punishment for the accused. Police are continuing their investigation into the case.-----------
