Berlin, 26 July (H.S.): A small private aircraft crashed into the roof of a house in a residential area in northwestern Germany on Saturday, killing both people on board. Local police confirmed the accident and said an investigation has been launched.

According to police, the light aircraft crashed in the Ganderkesee area near Oldenburg. The aircraft struck the sloping roof of a house directly, becoming lodged in the structure.

In its initial statement, police had said that one of the two people on board had been confirmed dead, while the other was missing. However, following a lengthy and complex operation to remove the wreckage, authorities confirmed that both occupants had died in the crash.

The victims were aged 65 and 77 and were residents of Bremen, Germany.

As a precaution after the accident, nearby homes were evacuated. Once the wreckage removal operation was completed, local residents were allowed to return safely to their homes.

Authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the cause of the crash. It remains unclear whether the accident was caused by a technical malfunction, adverse weather conditions, or any other factor.
